** In-person at Brevard Yoga and Live on Zoom. ** Take a break from the fast-paced world we live in to receive deep rest and restoration for your mental and physical wellbeing. Often referred to as "yogic sleep," Yoga Nidra is an easy and accessible way to practice meditation. Yoga Nidra influences different brain waves by guiding the practitioner through various states of consciousness. At the start of the practice, the brain is in the active state of beta waves and we begin to transition to alpha waves as the mind and body start to slow down. Subsequently, the practitioner is guided into the theta brain wave state, which bridges conscious thought with the subconscious mind. This is a state of deep relaxation with awareness fully turning inward. Finally, the delta brain waves are reached when the body feels expansive yet the mind is still awake. All of this is achieved while comfortably resting in savasana. Yoga Nidra can contribute to stress reduction, increased concentration, focus and creativity, emotional healing, and emotional resilience.
